Oh the things I wouldn't buy...

... unless they were free or cheap!

Yep, I really don't need this candy, but I'll refill the candy bowl at work. Life savers were all free and made the Starbursts free too. Nor would I have purchased the Scotch Fur Fighter, but for $2 it's worth a shot to see how it really works - we have a major fur problem**. That fancy pink flowery blush, negative $2.

I used $35 worth of gift cards and ECBs paid about $14 out of pocket, and get back about $50!

Since I shop for things like this every week - analyzing and figuring out the coupon/deals puzzle, and it's fun to me, I've found I don't feel the urge to shop for clothes, shoes, home decor, or other things like I used to. Saving money by getting (mostly) useful things for free and not spending it on others.

**Major Fur Problem:
Ryan and I were brushing him as we watched a storm roll in last night, and the fur just kept coming and coming...

Basement Update

We have water in the tub!

Still a ways to go with the rest of the bathroom & basement though.

Chacos Adventures of the past

How many pictures have you taken of your feet?

One of the first pictures taken of the Chacos when they were relatively new.

Here they are at Newell Fun day, just one week ago.

Breaking all rules of etiquettes... Chacos on the golf course for my husband's birthday last year.

With a friend (and some kids) at a playground.

With the family at Thanksgiving.

Taking a break while on a hike in the woods. Must not have been a very strenuous hike in filp-flops.

And finally at the State capitol, ground floor, evidently facing north.

Chacos Adventures

This photo has been my Facebook profile picture for a while and we've been having fun with it. I love my sandals and love to wear them everywhere! This photo was also my inspiration. Since I love my Chacos and wear them everywhere - and PS, think anyone who wears sandals a lot should own a pair - I thought, what fun to start documenting the adventures. Here begins Chacos Adventures. The photo below is from tonight at the Royal's game. It was hot. We left after the 4th inning. The tickets were free.
It's been a long, rough week... does that explain anything?

My neighbors are the gardeners, I'm just the photographer. Photos taken with permission of course.

Patience

From J.I Packer's Knowing God, chapter Thou Our Guide.

"Wait on the Lord" is a constant refrain in the Psalms, and it is a necessary word, for God often keeps us waiting. He is not in such a hurry as we are, and it is not His way to give more light on the future than we need for action in the present, or to guide us more than one step at a time. When in doubt, do nothing, but continue to wait on God. When action is needed, light will come.

Why is this is something I need to learn over and over again? I like the words Packer uses. The thought of being guided one step at a time. We will know when we need to know, no sense over-thinking it all now. He is not in a hurry, neither should we be. Slow down and enjoy today's moments.
