Chacos Adventures [the end?]

Just had to add this adventure story to the list.

At the end of August, I flew to Los Angeles to visit a friend.  One of our planned activities was hiking to the Hollywood sign.  As a person who almost always wears flip flops, I had to make a special point to get my hiking shoes from Kansas to California, then also to have them in the car for the hike.   I succeeded at having shoes but had only one sock.  Thankfully, the Chacos are so comfortable that I quickly to decided to just wear them... and enjoyed it.  Definitely a photo worthy adventure.

The dusty path made my feet horribly dirty.  Pardon the monotone dirt look of the Chacos on my feet.

But the story doesn't end there.  An hour and a half after finishing the hike, we pulling into my friend's driveway [almost] in Pasadena.  "Where's my other shoe?"  We looked through the nooks and crannies of her black car until I was convinced that I had, in fact, left it at the trail head.  Just one of them.

It was too far to go back, So the photo above is the last with these Chacos together and there is one floating around somewhere in Hollywood.

Good news.  Being the Chaco lover that I am, I most always have two pair on hand.  So the next day when we went to the beach, the black pair joined the adventures.  This was the day I swam in the ocean for the first time ever.
The end of the story is, I purchased a new pair on my way home from the airport, before I even returned to my house from this fun trip.  Stay tuned for more Chacos Adventures....

[dangerous?] Chacos Adventures

Continuing my plan to document where they go and what they do, here's a pic of climbing a tree in my Chacos.

(for some perspective: the gal in purple is on the ground)

Last week I...

... wore my Chacos to the Pantheon

...ran around the Colosseum in the rain

...jumped down the Spanish steps

... dove into the Trevi Fountain
(this one's for you Diana & Melissa)

...watched people and pigeons in Florence

...didn't see the Pope.

... carried a broken umbrella around the Roman Forum
... played Phase 10 in Rome.

Scenes from an airport

I took my little camera to Chicago this week knowing I wouldn't use it during training, but one just never knows when she'll want to capture an image.

The hotel was actually in Rosemont (nice watertower - get it - roses i realize its a bit unclear in this picture) My room was on the ninth floor.
Training finished early but the airline I was flying didn't have an earlier flight. So I just bummed around the airport for a couple hours, hoping security wouldn't find me suspicious while taking photos.
Then in the passageway to the other Concourse I saw some other tourists just snapping away. (not pictured)
Once in the concourse I found a nice open spot to sit, watch people and take some semi-creative pictures. Oh, and I was wearing my Chacos of course.
This plane was in this spot for a while. Not quite ready to leave for some reason.
After some ice cream and cole slaw, I moved to the ever appealing airport chairs near my gate.
Back at aforementioned favorite airport's economy parking (actually this was taken when I left, it was dark when I got back)

Chacos Adventures

Friday afternoon before I left, I spent some time reading in the back yard. I wore my Chacos out there and then took them off and used them to hold the book open.
Camden was out there too, generally chasing squirrels. Except for the moment he came and sat on my book (and Chacos)- still watching the squirrels of course.

Chacos Adventures

The photographer was my 3-year-old third cousin in-law (or something like that) while we were visiting his family in Kansas City.

I wear them everywhere!

Chacos Adventures

Ryan's parents have been in town this week helping us with the basement. This afternoon we helped them pack some insulation on the top of their van. I, of course, wore my sandals. Here they are while waiting for zip ties to finish the strap-down.
Stay tunned for more photos and stories of our Drywall Party tomorrow!

Chacos Adventures of the past

How many pictures have you taken of your feet?

One of the first pictures taken of the Chacos when they were relatively new.

Here they are at Newell Fun day, just one week ago.

Breaking all rules of etiquettes... Chacos on the golf course for my husband's birthday last year.

With a friend (and some kids) at a playground.

With the family at Thanksgiving.

Taking a break while on a hike in the woods. Must not have been a very strenuous hike in filp-flops.

And finally at the State capitol, ground floor, evidently facing north.

Chacos Adventures

This photo has been my Facebook profile picture for a while and we've been having fun with it. I love my sandals and love to wear them everywhere! This photo was also my inspiration. Since I love my Chacos and wear them everywhere - and PS, think anyone who wears sandals a lot should own a pair - I thought, what fun to start documenting the adventures. Here begins Chacos Adventures. The photo below is from tonight at the Royal's game. It was hot. We left after the 4th inning. The tickets were free.
It's been a long, rough week... does that explain anything?
