The DUDE of our house

This guy has a few nicknames around here; Dude, 'ups, Camdoni, Stinks ('cause he does sometimes) Crazies, and my favorite - because it adds character - Camdemonium (rhymes with pandemonium).

Even with names like that, he is a pretty obedient dog...most of the time. You can see that he 'stayed' today for the pictures, even though he was much more interested in barking at/with his neighbors than smiling, or even looking at the camera. :-)

Photo Shoots: Friends and a Wedding

Just to show a bit of the fun I've been having lately.

For the wedding, I took a few fun photos after the ceremony, while the professional photographer had a short break.

(They were practicing their dance moves for the Reception Entrance.)

100 Finer Things

Inspired by this blogger's list of 100 Finer Things, here is the beginning of what is intended to be my ongoing list of finer things.

  • Jesus! He has to be first. Thanks for salvation
  • A lazy, sunny morning, listening to the birds
  • A dog that is always excited to see me. To which I cannot help but respond with happiness
  • The smell of rain
  • Homemade bread
  • Flip flops
  • The first buds of green in the spring
  • Cheesecake
  • Hugs from my husband
  • Spiritual growth ~ it never ends

The Evening of Monday, April 5, 2010

A beautiful evening to be outdoors.

A little yard work.

Check on the garden and plant a random onion patch in front of the house.

[Homemade] Trellis for the pole beans and cucumbers.

Play with Camden (who cannot stay still long enough to be in focus.)

Trim out dead raspberry vines.

Yes, a beautiful evening!

Square Foot Garden.

I'm sure I've mentioned before that I'm using a version of Square Foot Gardening. I purchased the book last year and now found this great site! I say "a version" of SFG because I'm not using the soil mix - to save money. Last year, we brought in a truck load of supposedly better dirt than the clay stuff found all over Kansas. The veggies grew. So this year I'm just mixing in a bit of homemade compost.

While browsing my new favorite site of the week, I noticed some photos and did a little comparing. Look at this soil compared to mine in the post below.

She has such pretty holes poked for planting and it looks like they were very easy to make. Tonight... I did not have pretty holes, rather mud-dirt-clump things kept falling in.

I still managed to plant onions and spinach, and broccoli transplants. Oh - and things have already changed from the plans below.

Now for something else I'm not so good at ... patience while waiting for the seeds to grow!!!

Sorry no photos today. I considered trying to take one of myself while planting then just decided to wait and beg my husband to take some next round.

Spring

Always excited...

...to see green things....

...at the beginning of spring.
